Job SummaryWe are currently seeking a highly skilled Heavy Duty Diesel Technician to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance crew, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, testing, and repairing the mechanical parts of trucks, including diesel engines, transmissions, suspensions, steering, and brakes.
Key Responsibilities- Determine vehicle condition by conducting thorough inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts.
- Maintain equipment availability by completing preventive maintenance schedules, including installing component and part upgrades, controlling corrosion, and performing winterization procedures.
- Correct vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems.
- Complete machine shop operations by making adjustments and alignments, including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units.
- Verify vehicle performance by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems.
- Comply with federal and provincial vehicle requirements.
- Maintain vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting.
- Maintain accurate records of services and repairs.
- Assist other technicians with more complex assignments.
- High School diploma required; Diploma of Professional Studies in automotive mechanic/diesel mechanic preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in the repair and maintenance of diesel automotive/vehicular equipment.
- At least 3 years' experience specifically involving the repair of trucks or other heavy automotive equipment.
- Possession of a valid Driver's License is mandatory.
- Considerable knowledge of tools and equipment needed for the overhaul, repair, and maintenance of heavy diesel equipment.
- Ability to keep accurate records of repairs, time, and parts used for servicing heavy, special-purpose automotive equipment.
- Skill in using instruments and tools employed in checking and repairing motors and special equipment.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude, coordination, and dexterity.
The estimated salary range for this position is $65,000-$80,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
