Accounting Manager

FirstService Residential is a leading property management company that simplifies property management for its clients. We are seeking an experienced Manager, Accounts Receivable to join our team.
Job Summary:The Manager, Accounts Receivable will be responsible for leading the Accounts Receivable team to ensure excellent service delivery to internal and external clients. This role involves a mix of detail-oriented process activity and leadership ability. The successful candidate will have a strong background in accounting and experience in supervising a team.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead the Accounts Receivable team to ensure 100% accuracy and timely completion of tasks.
- Monitor team activities to ensure all tasks are completed accordingly and in a timely manner.
- Maintain the AR procedure manual and ensure processes are kept current and in accordance with company best practices and standards.
- Identify reoccurring errors and recommend training, documents, and/or procedures to reduce errors.
- Ensure all customer enquiries are appropriately handled, addressed, or forwarded to the correct party in a timely manner.
- Maintain the highest level of customer care while demonstrating a friendly and cooperative attitude.
- Review terminated association items completed by staff when necessary.
- Maintain proficiency in FirstService Residential's accounting systems and other proprietary tools.
- Troubleshoot issues with all accounting-related systems and/or testing new functionality related to Accounts Receivable related matters.
- Foster a team environment of continuous improvement focused on innovation and best practice.
- Lead team meetings on department performance and issue resolution.
- Provide new hire training and mentoring and evaluates performance according to FirstService Residential's Human Resource policies.
- Complete annual performance appraisals on staff in a timely manner, providing both positive and constructive feedback to promote an atmosphere of learning and growth.
- Evaluate staff productivity levels to ensure employees are meeting or exceeding processing expectations.
- Initiate and participate in business process improvement activities as it relates to the area of accounts receivable.
- Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Accounting from a four-year college or university and an accounting designation is preferred.
- Five (5) years of supervisory experience leading a team of 5+ direct reports.
- Property Management industry experience preferred.
