About the Role
The City of Welland is seeking a skilled Landscape Design Specialist to join our Parks and Forestry team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and coordinating the installation of seasonal plantings for city parks, cemeteries, and open spaces.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and coordinate the installation of seasonal plantings for city parks, cemeteries, and open spaces
- Prepare designs and working drawings for staff to follow during seasonal planting changeovers
- Coordinate the daily operations of the horticulture crew to ensure productivity, efficiency, and quality control
- Assist with budget preparation and procurement of materials and supplies
- Represent the Parks Division and work with various organizations and community groups
Requirements
- Degree or diploma in Horticulture, Landscape Design, or Landscape Technology
- Three years' practical experience in landscape design
- Valid Class "D" Ontario Driver's License with "Z" endorsement
- Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Accreditation and working knowledge of IPM
- Book 7 Traffic Control Certification
- Current First Aid and CPR Certification
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Dynascape Landscape software
