Laboratory Clerk

We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Clerk to join our team at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, BC. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory services.

In this role, you will perform a variety of clerical and receptionist duties, including:

• Scheduling appointments, performing computer entry, filing, telephoning, faxing, and invoicing;
• Receiving and registering patients by obtaining necessary information for patient data and test entry into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) according to established procedures;
• Receiving, processing, and preparing patient samples in accordance with established procedures;
• Prioritizing workflow and preparing samples for send-out in accordance with all transportation regulations and procedures;
• Mailing and distributing patient reports as required;
• Distributing, filing, retrieving, and disposing of laboratory specimens, slides, and blocks;
• Maintaining laboratory inventory and supplies;
• Maintaining records such as standing orders and requisitions, temperature records, cleaning and disinfection logs, inventory logs;

You will also be responsible for performing other related duties as required.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A current 5 Minute Typing Test 45 wpm or greater completed within past 48 months from a recognized institution;
• Proof of completion of a Medical Terminology Course;
• Your Resume indicating two year's recent related experience, Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience;
• A Cover Letter stating your availability to start in a new position and on-call, casual work.

We estimate the salary for this position to be around $25-$35 per hour, based on industry standards and location.
