Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Technologist - Cytotechnology Specialist to join our team at Sault Area Hospital. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing laboratory tests, collecting specimens, and reporting results to Patient Care Providers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform laboratory procedures as indicated in department manuals, adhering to Hospital and Laboratory Policies.
  • Work in two laboratory subsections, Cytology and Histology, and remain current in laboratory medicine.
  • Communicate effectively with Patient Care Providers on laboratory matters and exercise independent judgment in specimen procurement, analysis, reporting, and interpretation of findings.
  • Participate in available continuing education programs to maintain certification and stay up-to-date with industry developments.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • Completion of a post-secondary Diagnostic Cytology certificate program from a recognized institution.
  • Registration by the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario in good standing.
  • Minimum acceptable experience in a training program approved by the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSML), including a one-year clinical training.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently as a team member in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and telephone skills.
  • Computer literacy in a Microsoft environment.
  • Ability to maintain successful working relationships with the interdisciplinary team to achieve positive patient outcomes.
