About the Role:

Boston Scientific Gruppe is seeking a highly creative and strategically minded Principal Research & Development Engineer to support complex electromechanical design development of next generation products in the Interventional Heart Failure portfolio.

The successful candidate will be a key technical resource within the development team(s) and will have demonstrated experience with the design and implementation of complex mechanical systems and solutions.

  • Own and drive significant portions of design development activities related to mechanical and electromechanical systems, within a new therapy space.
  • Provide strong technical subject matter expertise in the area of mechanical device design.
  • Be hands on and engaged with the project team, driving multiple technical lanes simultaneously and prioritizing appropriately.
  • Provide clear communication to stakeholders at key technical updates.
  • Develop a strong internal and external network, leveraging that network to deliver results on critical programs.
  • Provide technical guidance to technicians/entry/mid-level engineers.
  • Be a strong team player, collaborating across process development, quality, manufacturing, regulatory, clinical, and marketing on complex projects to ensure project success.

Key Responsibilities:

The Principal Research & Development Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Designing and developing complex electromechanical systems for next generation products.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure project success.
  • Providing technical guidance and support to technicians and engineers.
  • Developing and maintaining technical documentation and records.
  • Staying up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, the candidate will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Biomedical, or related Engineering field.
  • At least 7 years of experience in medical device or related field, with a strong background in mechanical and electromechanical design.
  • Excellent technical knowledge and experience in the mechanical and/or electromechanical design space.
  • Solid clinical knowledge and experience in cardiovascular and peripheral anatomy.
  • Experience managing technical aspects of projects as a member of a cross-functional team.
  • Ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on technical inputs from multiple and varied sources.

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Master's degree in related technical field.
  • Advanced experimental design and statistical analysis knowledge.
  • Knowledge and experience in advanced prototyping and fabrication techniques.
