Role Summary

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Deliver compliance support to Global Capital Markets through participation in a high-performing Advisory team and program.
  2. Provide expert counsel and advice to the Director, Advisory - GCM on Canadian trading-related compliance matters.
  3. Oversee the development and implementation of policies and advisory procedures for Global Capital Markets, ensuring alignment with Canadian legislative and regulatory requirements.
  4. Design and execute comprehensive compliance training programs for internal stakeholders and business divisions.
  5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and address the Bank's risk appetite and culture.
  6. Support regulatory and internal audit inquiries, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
  7. Contribute to various projects, including special investigations and regulatory initiatives.
  8. Engage in effectiveness testing of supervision-related processes and controls.
  9. Author policy documents, guidance memos, training presentations, and socialize them across the organization.
  10. Offer guidance and support to team members, providing back-up as needed.
  11. Present compliance information at governance forums (regulatory development, remediation, etc.).
  12. Drive operational efficiency and ensure the adequacy and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls.
  13. Foster a customer-focused culture within the team to enhance client relationships and leverage broader Bank resources.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education and/or professional designations.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in a large financial institution or established securities agency.
  • Excellent understanding of MX and IIROC trading rules and National Instruments.
  • Advanced knowledge of institutional equity, fixed income, and derivatives trading, including hedging strategies.
  • General understanding of Canadian regulatory trends and industry developments.
  • An enquiring mind, excellent judgment, strategic thinking skills, and attention to detail.
  • Fluent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and investigative skills, with ability to operate at a strategic level.
  • Sound judgment in identifying risks and escalating to senior management.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively across functional lines.
