Job Summary:
The Factory Operations Manager will oversee plant operations through the Production Supervisors, ensuring work is done in a safe and efficient manner and complies with all Johnson Electric's Health & Safety policies, procedures, and quality systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Improve worker safety by reducing repetitive motions, identifying and eliminating hazards, and improving 5S in the facility.
- Enhance throughput by continually improving processes, reducing downtime, faults, waiting, movement, and time spent looking for items.
- Decrease inventory by reducing setup time and improving operational reliability.
- Decrease expenses by carefully managing labor and improving efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with policies and procedures and manage employee performance through the annual review process and progressive discipline system.
- Manage labor and vacation coverage to ensure operations are adequately staffed.
- Reduce tooling costs by ensuring employees are adequately trained and setup processes are followed.
- Troubleshoot process problems and initiate corrective action to increase quality and productivity.
- Coordinate daily activities of Production Supervisors and hourly employees.
- Schedule engineering and maintenance machine requirements.
- Adjust production schedules to maintain flow considering equipment, manpower, available time, and packaging requirements.
- Address labor concerns, motivate employees, and improve relations between employees and management.
- Establish production goal requirements for each work cell.
- Participate in Problem Solving / Continuous Improvement meetings as required.
- Adhere to Johnson Electric's policies and procedures.
- Adhere to and support Johnson Electric's Safety and Environmental policies and practices.
- Ensure the requirements of the Quality Management System and Environmental Health & Safety Systems are met.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Degree and/or Diploma and minimum 5 years of experience in a supervisory/managerial capacity.
- Quality System experience in a TS 16949 registered organization.
- Excellent knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office software (i.e., Excel, Word).
- Strong Leadership and Team building aptitude.
- Able to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, at all levels of the organization.
- High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results orientation.
Work Environment:
- Primarily office environment with some time spent in manufacturing facilities.
- Day shift.
