Indigenous Education and Services Manager

The Manager, Indigenous Education and Services, reports to the Executive Director of Indigenous Initiatives and Services and provides operational leadership to Indigenous Education and Services (IES), including the Indigenous Gathering Space and Indigenous Upgrading Program teams. The position oversees day-to-day operations of IES teams, focusing on business operations, human resources, financial management, and special projects within IES. The Manager collaborates with partners across the institution and the broader community to fulfill the mandate, objectives, and goals of IES.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide operational leadership to IES teams, including the Indigenous Gathering Space and Indigenous Upgrading Program teams.
- Oversee day-to-day operations of IES teams, focusing on business operations, human resources, financial management, and special projects within IES.
- Collaborate with partners across the institution and the broader community to fulfill the mandate, objectives, and goals of IES.
- Support the Executive Director in the development and implementation of the Indigenous Action Plan and fulfilling the College's Indigenization and reconciliation goals.
- Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate discipline such as education, business administration, accounting, or human resources.
- Minimum five (5) years of recent and progressively senior-level administrative experience, including financial, human resources, and operational and/or project management.
- Experience supporting executive leadership in a unionized, post-secondary educational setting is highly desirable.
- Experience and/or training in project management, event planning, business communications, leadership, budget support, and/or time management is a definite asset.
- Experience interpreting and applying collective agreements is required.
- Experience dealing with the broad range of issues related to student services, such as registration matters, mental health, student conduct, and student engagement is an asset.
- As an Indigenous student services professional, applicants must have a detailed understanding of the cultures and histories of Indigenous peoples of British Columbia.
- Applicants must have a detailed understanding of the systemic issues and barriers discouraging Indigenous students from pursuing and completing a post-secondary education.
- IES is a culturally grounded support service, and applicants must have experience living and working with Indigenous communities and have a good understanding of Indigenous cultural values, practices, protocols, and ceremony.
- Applicants must be willing and able to complete Canadian Red Cross Standard First Aid, CPR, and AED training, Mental Health First Aid, Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), Safe Talk, Violent Threat Risk Assessment (VTRA), Positive Space, Naloxone, and other training programs and courses that support the creation of a safe and caring space within the Gathering Space for Indigenous students.

This position is dedicated to supporting Indigenous students. The successful candidate for this position will be a candidate who is Indigenous, (First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples) of Canada.
