Cafeteria Attendant

We are seeking a skilled Cafeteria Worker to join our team at the University of Toronto. As a Cafeteria Worker, you will be responsible for assembling, preparing, and serving food and beverage products, as well as maintaining the cleanliness of the cafeteria area.
Key Responsibilities- Assemble work stations with appropriate products and equipment
- Prepare and serve food and beverage products
- Cook stir fry and grill display cooking, and may cook other items
- Prepare sandwiches, salads, and bake premixed food products
- Advise and provide information to customers on ingredients, pricing, and portion size
- Collect and wash dishes and tableware used by customers
- Clean table tops, counters, and furniture in the cafeteria and surrounding area
- Maintain adequate supplies of dishes, utensils, and food and paper products
- Remove soiled tableware and garbage, and sort recyclable materials
- Scrub pots and pans, and wash dishes
- Clean floors, staff locker rooms, and washrooms
- Receive and store food and supplies, and check receiving slips for accuracy
- Set up and prepare cash registers, and receive cash floats
- Balance cash at the end of the shift, and deliver cash to the accountant or lock it in a safe
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
- One year of related working experience
- Physical ability to perform required duties
- Ability to communicate effectively in English (oral and written)
- Considerable public relations skills (courtesy and tact)
- Ability to work well in a team setting
- Ability to handle figures rapidly
This is a casual part-time position with a flexible schedule, which may include evening and weekend hours. The pay scale group is $25.50 per hour.
