Job SummaryThe Early Childhood Assistant will work under the supervision of early childhood educators to support the development and implementation of child-care programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
- Maintain daycare equipment and ensure a safe and healthy environment for children.
- Engage children in activities such as storytelling, teaching songs, and preparing crafts.
- Guide and assist children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits.
- Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods.
- Discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings.
- Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children.
- Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children.
- Plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours.
- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
- 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Own transportation.
- Physically demanding work environment.
- Attention to detail.
- Bending, crouching, kneeling.
The Early Childhood Assistant will work in a child care centre or elementary school setting.
