Job Title: Carpenter - Houses

We are seeking a skilled Carpenter to join our team at Hi-Quality Homes Inc. as a key member of our construction team.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to carpentry, including preparing estimates, reading blueprints, and measuring, cutting, and assembling materials. They will also be responsible for building foundations, installing floor beams, and erecting walls and roof systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs
  • Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
  • Prepare tenders and quotations
  • Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems
  • Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware
  • Schedule and co-ordinate work on sites
  • Survey building locations and levels
  • Instruct apprentices
  • Supervise other workers
  • Estimate costs and materials
  • Operate CADD and other computer software systems
  • Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments
Requirements:
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in carpentry
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • Ability to work at heights, in noisy and dusty environments, and outdoors
  • Ability to lift heavy loads and work in physically demanding conditions
  • Good judgement and team player skills
