The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Policy Analyst to join our team at the National Institute on Ageing. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting policy analysis, monitoring and tracking policy issues and political trends across multiple jurisdictions, and developing actionable policy recommendations to support our public policy agenda.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct policy analysis and research to inform our public policy agenda
  • Monitor and track policy issues and political trends across multiple jurisdictions
  • Develop policy recommendations and briefings for senior government officials
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, partners, and government officials
  • Lead engagement and outreach activities to advance progress on key issues related to ageing in Canada

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in political science, public policy, business administration, economics, or a related field
  • Bilingual skills in English and French (oral, writing, reading)
  • Minimum four years' experience in a similar role, preferably in the public sector, not-for-profit organization, or academic institution
  • Experience designing and executing policy research, performing complex analysis, and writing policy documents
  • Experience leading policy projects and building relationships with stakeholders and government officials
  • Knowledge of national and jurisdictional key issues relating to ageing in Canada, such as health, social wellbeing, financial security, housing, and/or poverty alleviation among older adults
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to prepare and deliver presentations on policy research findings
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to complete statistical and data analysis
  • Political acuity and ability to successfully engage with senior government officials on policy implications and other sensitive matters
