Job Title: Psychiatrist

We are seeking a highly skilled Psychiatrist to join our team at Manitoba Health. As a key member of our inter-disciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing community services to individuals with severe mental illness disorders, addictions, and intellectual disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct psychiatric and medical assessments, treatment, and management of program participants within your scope of expertise or liaise with appropriate services when out of scope.
  • Participate in planning and coordination of comprehensive team services for program participants.
  • Provide psychiatric support to the HUB as needed on a consult basis.
  • Clinical supervision, education, and training of other staff.
  • Development, maintenance, and supervision of medication and psychiatric and medical treatment policies and procedures.
  • Review, follow-up, and order blood work, in conjunction with Team Lead/Nursing, for assigned participants.
  • Arrange for clients to be admitted to hospital when required and liaise with hospital staff while the ACT client is in hospital.
  • Expectation to provide input and leadership, in conjunction with Team Lead, in all aspects regarding participant recovery and community living as required.
  • Participation in development and maintenance of working relationships with other Shared Health Manitoba and Winnipeg Regional Health Authority Mental Health services and other government agencies.
  • Supervise psychiatric residents and other medical students.
  • Participating in a variety of evaluative measures and research studies.
  • Equitable participation in an on-call rota.
  • Attendance and participation in FACT staff meetings and Community Psychiatry Program meetings.
Requirements:
  • Doctor of Medicine Degree with specialization in Psychiatry.
  • Training and experience in psychosocial rehabilitation and recovery models.
  • Clinical experience with severe mental illness disorders, addictions, intellectual disabilities.
