Job Summary
Skeena Resources Limited is a leading exploration mining company focused on the restart of the past-producing Eskay Creek gold-silver mine and additional development projects in the Golden Triangle of northwest British Columbia, Canada.
The Eskay Creek mine was the highest-grade gold mine in the world when in production, producing 3.3 million ounces of gold and 160 million ounces of silver at average grades of 45 g/t gold and 2,224 g/t silver.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily analysis and maintain production with limited supervision.
- Assist in the development of industry standard assay procedures and reporting.
- Perform manual labor and maintain procedures and documentation to support ISO 17025 requirements.
- Monitor and manage daily assay laboratory inventory to ensure adequate supply to meet daily production requirements.
- Meet Skeena safety and corporate policy requirements.
Requirements
- Degree in chemistry, mining technology, or high school diploma with 5 years' experience in a mining laboratory or a commercial lab that analyzes exploration samples.
- Experience with Fire Assaying or Atomic Absorption, ICP-OES, IR S/C.
- Experience with classical titration & gravimetric methods.
- Basic computer skills.
- Assay Net LIMS or other LIMS knowledge an asset.
- Knowledge and experience with industry accepted sample preparation procedures.
- Good housekeeping and organizational skills.
- Strong commitment to safety.
- First Aid – or other safe laboratory qualifications is required.
- Understanding of WHMIS-SDS maintenance of documents required procedure.
- Ability to work on a compressed schedule on fly in fly out – bus in bus out project.
Work Environment
This is a site-based job, involving working at a remote exploration site on a two week on/two week off rotation. The Eskay Creek project is located within the Coast Mountains of Northwestern British Columbia and Tahltan Territory.
Transportation would be provided from Telegraph Creek, Dease Lake, and Iskut as well as flights from Vancouver, Kamloops, Prince George, Terrace, and Smithers with shuttles from either the Bob Quinn airport or Terrace Airport to Eskay Creek camp facilities.
There will be exposure to extreme temperatures in all seasons, including working outdoors in snow, mud, ice, and water conditions, walking to and from different locations on uneven ground, prolonged periods of standing, and physically handling/lifting/moving heavy objects.
