Director, Commercial Insurance Leader

The Director, Commercial Insurance will be responsible for leading and growing a frontline brokerage team in a hybrid and flexible work environment. This individual will work alongside and report to the Vice President, Commercial Insurance to deliver the strategic vision of the brokerage.
Key Responsibilities- Team Leadership: Lead, drive, and support a frontline broker team through the implementation of JDIMI's overall strategy, operating plan, administrative budgets, and processes.
- Carrier Relationships: Support JDIMI in establishing and maintaining strong relationships with carriers.
- Team Development: Coach, mentor, and develop Commercial Insurance team members to achieve desired personal and organizational objectives.
- Performance Management: Lead, manage, and establish performance expectations for multiple high-performing teams.
- Strategic Planning: Strategize with high-performing teams and leadership members on key accounts.
- Operating Policies: Develop and establish operating policies consistent with JDIMI's strategic vision and objectives and ensure their adequate execution.
- Financial Analysis: Collaborate with the VP, Commercial Insurance on financial measurements and analysis to evaluate and establish JDIMI's business operations and to determine/forecast hiring decisions.
- Budgeting and Compensation: Collaborate with the VP, Commercial Insurance on the Commercial Insurance budget, goal setting, and annual compensation increases.
- Compliance and Innovation: Maintain company's best practices while ensuring legal compliance and establishing new ones to stay competitive in the insurance marketplace.
- Culture and Leadership: Exhibit a leadership style that fosters a culture of innovation, creativity, accountability, and collaboration.
- Strategic Planning and Budgeting: Participate in the development and preparation of short-term and long-range plans and budgets based upon broad organization goals and objectives.
- Minimum 7 years of commercial experience preferably in an insurance brokerage/company.
- Positive experience leading a team is an asset, but the desire to lead is more important.
- CAIB, CRM CIP, or FCIP designation is an asset.
- Experience working with EPIC & CSR 24 is an asset.
- Experience in Office 365.
- In-depth knowledge of insurance brokerage business practices and processes.
- Understand how products and services impact client needs and develop processes to improve quality.
- A team player who is friendly, collaborative, and has strong initiative, leadership, and strategic thinking.
- Ability to work independently and with all levels of the organization.
- Exceptional communication, collaboration, and negotiation skills required to affect change and build relationships.
