Athabasca University is a leading institution in the field of distance learning, and we are currently seeking a highly skilled Development and Engagement Specialist to join our team.

This full-time position will report to the Manager, Fund Development, and work closely with the Director, Strategic Engagement, and other development-focused colleagues to enhance the university's ability to identify, cultivate, and steward supporters towards securing philanthropic and sponsorship contributions.

As a key member of our Strategic Engagement team, you will be responsible for providing high-level support and project coordination of fundraising efforts, including day-to-day processes, support mailings and event invitations, monthly reporting updates, events support, and responding to general inquiries.

You will work collaboratively with all members of the Strategic Engagement unit to support development aims and connect on other institutional initiatives. Your efforts will often support AU leadership, including the VP UR, Dean's, and other senior leadership team members, by providing documentation, coordination, updates, and request management that contribute to the cultivation of gifts in alignment with engagement-centric, relationship-driven practices.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational and time management skills, be able to multitask effectively and efficiently, especially during peak periods, meet deadlines, and demonstrate attention to detail. You will also have the ability to foster positive working relationships with students, alumni, and staff at all levels, as well as communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.

We offer a competitive salary of approximately $85,000 per year, commensurate with experience, plus benefits and pension eligibility. Our comprehensive compensation package includes a defined benefits pension plan, Alberta Health Care, Extended Health Care, Life Insurance, Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance, Disability Coverage, Vacation, Office Closure between Christmas and New Year's Day, Discretionary Benefit Fund, AU Course Allowance, and Employee & Family Assistance Program (EFAP).
