Job Description

The Instrumentation and Controls Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the Anaerobic Digester (ADF) facility and other contracted facilities at the Edmonton Waste Management Centre (EWMC). As a key member of the Veolia team, this position requires a strong understanding of instrumentation and controls systems, as well as excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, service, and calibrate various instruments within the ADF facility and other contracted facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and permitting requirements.
  • Meet target Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for safety, productivity, and quality of work performed.
  • Mentor and train assigned Apprentices, as well as oversee work performance of Maintenance Technicians assisting with work orders.
  • Perform On-Call duties as scheduled and work rotating day shifts, as required.
Qualifications:
  • Apprenticeship Certification and/or an inter-provincial Journeyman Instrumentation and Controls Technician Trade Certificate.
  • Dual ticketed individuals with a secondary trade certificate as electrician will be preferred.
  • Minimum of two years' related-industry experience and completion of apprenticeship certification.
  • Experience with a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) is a definite asset.
  • Previous experience in an industrial process plant environment is an asset.
Work Environment:

This position operates within a COR certified plant environment and requires compliance with all regulatory requirements, including the Client's operating approval with Alberta Environment. The facility operates on a 24/7 basis, and the incumbent will be required to work in a fast-paced environment with changing multiple priorities and frequent interruptions.

The successful candidate will be required to perform Safety Sensitive duties and responsibilities, including working at heights, in confined spaces, and with various industrial hazards. A strong commitment to health and safety is essential for this role.
