Parkinson Canada is seeking a dedicated Volunteer Event Coordinator to lead our SuperWalk program in communities across Canada. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in raising awareness and funds for people living with Parkinson's disease.

About the Role

The Volunteer Event Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of SuperWalk, from start to finish, including selecting and securing sites, preparing budgets, sourcing local sponsorships, and recruiting volunteers. You will also work closely with our Sponsorship Coordinator to ensure successful event execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Select and secure sites for SuperWalk events
  • Prepare budgets and manage finances for local events
  • SOURCE LOCAL SPONSORSHIPS IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE SPONSORSHIP COORDINATOR
  • Ensure proper recording and deposit of funds collected on event days
  • Recruit and provide leadership for organizing committees
  • Manage volunteers alongside the Volunteer Coordinator
  • Organize and chair committee meetings
  • Attend monthly conference calls with Parkinson Canada event staff
  • E nsure all activities align with Parkinson Canada SuperWalk program and policies
  • Attend and oversee all aspects of the walk, including post-walk wrap-up

Benefits

As a volunteer SuperWalk Coordinator, you will have the opportunity to develop your leadership potential and project management skills in a context outside of regular employment. You will work with an excellent group of people and network with others in related fields. Most importantly, you will make an impact in the lives of those living with Parkinson's.

Time Commitment

The time commitment for this opportunity is approximately 6-8 hours per month between March and October. The Event Coordinator will attend monthly meetings and post-event wrap-up. Tasks can be completed remotely, but the Coordinator must be on site to attend the event, typically held in early September.
