Job Title: Painter/Plasterer

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Painter/Plasterer to join our team at the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of duties related to the general painting and decorating of school buildings, furniture, and equipment, as well as ensuring work is performed in a safe and effective manner.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform painting and decorating tasks, including lining gym floors and preparing work surfaces accurately and thoroughly.
  • Ensure compliance with Board and legislative standards and codes.
  • Perform drywall and plaster repairs as needed.
  • Maintain Board vehicles, equipment, and tools.
  • Perform other related duties to ensure that properties, facilities, and equipment are properly maintained.
Requirements:
  • Completion of Secondary School diploma.
  • Ontario Journeyman Certificate of Qualification as a Painter and Decorator.
  • 5 years of experience in residential/commercial buildings.
  • Ability to climb scaffolds and ladders on both the exterior and interior of the building.
  • Interpersonal, communication, and listening skills required to liaise with co-workers, principals, site supervisors, and other Board personnel.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision.
Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines and changing priorities. The position requires the ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
