We are seeking a skilled and experienced Painter/Plasterer to join our team at the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board.
Job Summary:The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of duties related to the general painting and decorating of school buildings, furniture, and equipment, as well as ensuring work is performed in a safe and effective manner.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform painting and decorating tasks, including lining gym floors and preparing work surfaces accurately and thoroughly.
- Ensure compliance with Board and legislative standards and codes.
- Perform drywall and plaster repairs as needed.
- Maintain Board vehicles, equipment, and tools.
- Perform other related duties to ensure that properties, facilities, and equipment are properly maintained.
- Completion of Secondary School diploma.
- Ontario Journeyman Certificate of Qualification as a Painter and Decorator.
- 5 years of experience in residential/commercial buildings.
- Ability to climb scaffolds and ladders on both the exterior and interior of the building.
- Interpersonal, communication, and listening skills required to liaise with co-workers, principals, site supervisors, and other Board personnel.
- Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision.
The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines and changing priorities. The position requires the ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
