General Manager of Strategic and Communication Services

Job Summary:
The City of Spruce Grove is seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Manager of Strategic and Communication Services to provide visionary leadership to the Strategic and Communication Services Division. As a key member of the Corporate Leadership Team, the incumbent will be responsible for providing strategic guidance and direction to the division, ensuring the effective delivery of services and programs that meet the needs of the community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Strategic and Communication Services Division, ensuring alignment with the City's corporate goals and objectives.
  • Develop and implement policies and programs that promote effective communication and collaboration between the City and its stakeholders.
  • Lead the development and implementation of the City's corporate strategic plan, ensuring alignment with the City's vision and mission.
  • Provide guidance and support to the City Manager and Council on matters related to strategic planning and communication.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of the City's communication strategy, ensuring effective communication with the public, media, and other stakeholders.
  • Manage the City Clerk and Human Resources functions, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and City policies.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the division's staff, ensuring effective delivery of services and programs.

Requirements:
  • Post-secondary degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Political Science, Communications, or equivalent.
  • At least ten years of related experience, with at least six years in senior leadership roles.
  • Advanced communication and presentation skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and make informed decisions.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, with multiple priorities and deadlines.

Asset Qualifications:
  • Certified Local Government Manager (CLGM) designation.
  • Experience in a senior leadership role within a municipal or public sector organization.
  • Class 5 Driver's License.
