Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Director of Transportation at Dot Transportation, Inc. (DTI). As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for directing and coordinating all transportation activities, ensuring the safe and efficient movement of goods.
Key Responsibilities- Transportation Management: Develop and implement effective transportation strategies to meet company goals and objectives.
- Vendor and Customer Management: Address challenges and concerns with vendors and customers, ensuring timely and cost-effective solutions.
- Team Leadership: Recruit, hire, train, and manage personnel in DTI related to garage operations, managers, dispatch, and drivers.
- Cost Containment: Work with the HR Manager to manage safety opportunities, Workers' Compensation, benefits, discipline, and quality training for all DTI employees.
- Compliance and Safety: Maintain a safe working environment and ensure compliance with all OSHA and DOT regulations.
- Financial Management: Prepare and perform budget responsibilities for capital, target, operating, and payroll budgets for the transportation area of the distribution center.
- Performance Metrics: Focus on distribution center DTI service levels, miles per cwt, turnover, and safety frequency rate.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead efforts to eliminate waste and improve processes using lean thinking and tools.
- Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent Dot Foods experience.
- Skills: Strong organizational, analytical, and planning skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, computer skills, and experience in using Microsoft Office programs/applications.
- Experience: Experience and/or education with transportation management, familiarity with sales, truck and trailer maintenance, Human Resources, warehousing, and distribution.
