Job OverviewThe Procurement Specialist will play a key role in ensuring the operational procurement of goods in a timely manner. This will involve working closely with internal customers to understand and follow procurement processes and policies, as well as applying effective supply management and sourcing techniques.
Key Responsibilities- Transactional purchasing, including processing Purchase Requisitions, issuing Request for Quotations, and creating, maintaining, and expediting Purchase Orders.
- Performing appropriate checks in line with Plan to Pay requirements before proceeding with a purchase.
- Following up on outstanding Purchase Requisitions to ensure requirements and/or alternatives are identified and procured in a timely manner.
- Tracking purchase orders to ensure timely delivery and providing weekly updates on all parts required for upcoming maintenance scheduled work.
- Working with stakeholders to resolve issues and discrepancies.
- Assisting internal customers with compliance to Procurement procedures and driving process governance.
- Negotiating discounts and delivery terms.
- Collaborating with other team members and supporting the inventory replenishment process.
- Promoting a cost-conscious culture throughout the business.
- Supporting and ensuring compliance with all Health, Safety, Environment, and Company policies.
- Participating in the inventory optimization program and supporting business in reducing obsolete and surplus inventory.
- Post-Secondary education in a related discipline (i.e. Business, Finance, etc.).
- Previous procurement experience, preferably in a mining or industrial setting.
- Experience purchasing spare components for heavy mobile mining equipment and mineral processing equipment would be an asset.
- Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation would be considered an asset.
- Experience with SAP would be considered an asset.
- Proficiency with key office software tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
- Experience working in the mining industry, northern Canada, and an understanding of the northern regulatory environment is preferred.
