Mould Polisher

We are seeking an experienced Mould Polisher to join our dynamic Tooling Team at Magna International Inc. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for polishing moulds to the required specifications, assembling and disassembling injection moulds, interpreting specifications from engineering drawings and verbal instructions.
Your Key Responsibilities- Polish mould cavities and cores to exacting standards, utilizing a range of techniques from emery cloth to diamond pastes.
- Operate hand grinders and polishers, as well as disc grinders and other grinding devices.
- Transfer equipment, objects, or parts to specified work areas using moving devices.
- Complete visual management tasks as directed, adhering to 5S requirements and ensuring a safe and organized work environment.
- Polish plastic injection moulds and components by hand and with reciprocating equipment.
- Set up plastic injection moulds and components for polishing, reviewing specifications to determine the appropriate tools and materials.
- Work with Mold Makers and Supervisors to prioritize and scope work for each mould, inspecting work pieces to ensure they meet customer specifications.
- Secondary School diploma or equivalent.
- Able to assist with Co-Extrusion die component polishing as required.
- Must possess hand finishing capabilities, hand benching, and Hardening Tool steel polishing experience.
- Ability to work well around mould parting lines.
- Familiar with chemical, mechanical, and fluid polishing methods.
- Competent to achieve all SPI surface finishes with expert abilities in A1, A2, and A3.
- Basic knowledge of electrical and hydraulics as applied to moulds.
- Completed Ontario Certificate of Apprenticeship (Mould Maker) highly preferred.
- Ability to TIG Weld and laser weld an asset.
