Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team at WRHA Corporate. As a key member of our pharmacy staff, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient dispensing of medications to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Procure, store, prepare, compound, package, maintain, issue, and distribute drugs, chemicals, and supplies in accordance with policy, directives, and procedures.
  • Review prescriptions for compliance with federal and provincial law.
  • Perform final checks on prepared medications when processed by other technicians or assistants.
  • Dispense medications upon pharmacist approval.
  • Identify potential drug-related problems requiring referral to a pharmacist.
  • Provide instructions to patients on medical device operation.
  • Obtain practitioner instructions for refilling active prescriptions without changes.
  • Perform tasks at external dispensing sites as required.
  • Precept and train pharmacy staff members and students.
Requirements
  • Degree or diploma from an accredited pharmacy technician program.
  • Certificate from the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba (CPhM) or equivalent.
  • Listed as a pharmacy technician with CPhM.
  • Ability to pass and maintain Regional Pharmacy Program competency assessments.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and proficiency in pharmaceutical calculations.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills, with flexibility and independence in planning work.
Working Conditions

This position requires standing, lifting, and repetitive motion. Extensive use of eyesight and concentration for precision work is necessary, along with extensive computer usage. Exposure to medications, chemicals, and solvents may be involved, and travel to other sites may be required.

Compensation

The estimated salary for this position is between $45,000 and $65,000 per annum, based on experience and qualifications. This compensation range reflects the market value for this role in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
