Child Care Assistant Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Child Care Assistant to join our team at the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka. As a key member of our early childhood education team, you will play a vital role in providing a nurturing environment for children to grow and thrive.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide personal care and support to children, including toileting, first aid, and medication administration.
  • Engage with children in a group setting, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Plan and implement play-based learning activities in accordance with the YMCA Curriculum.
  • Communicate effectively with families, staff, and volunteers to ensure a positive and inclusive environment.
  • Support children with exceptional behaviors and additional needs, promoting their social, emotional, and cognitive development.
  • Adhere to work schedules, ensuring program ratios are maintained and providing adequate notice for scheduling changes.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR (Level C) certification or completion within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Up-to-date immunizations or equivalent, in accordance with local public health and Child Care Early Years Act.
  • Availability requirements: minimum of 2 full days per week (7am-6pm) or 3 afternoons (2:30-6pm).
  • Passion for working with children and providing quality play-based learning.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with families, staff, and volunteers.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 20 kg, and participate in physical activities.
  • Ability to work outdoors for at least 2 hours daily, year-round, in all weather conditions.
