Electrical Engineer/Designer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Engineer/Designer to join our team at The Engineering Institute of Canada. The successful candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering and design, with experience in on-site commissioning and contractor management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, analyze, and specify electrical control systems and associated hardware, safety systems, and mechanical systems.
  • Create bid and scope documents, and assist in developing and drafting user and system design functional specifications.
  • Conduct risk assessments, procure materials, and manage basic logistics.
  • Develop specifications for panel fabrication.
  • Troubleshoot electrical installations according to project scope and complete commissioning summaries with client approval.
  • Perform routine technical surveys or inspections and prepare detailed reports.
  • Develop contractor schedules and work plans, conduct bidding meetings, and perform contractor walkthroughs, ensuring compliance with permits and site requirements.
  • Generate budgets and requirements for construction activities.
  • Monitor on-site subcontractors for safety compliance, quality of work, and budget adherence.
  • Assist in establishing guidelines, devising innovative approaches, applying existing criteria in new ways, and drawing conclusions from comparative situations.
Requirements:
  • Strong background in electrical engineering and design.
  • Experience in on-site commissioning and contractor management.
  • Excellent technical skills and knowledge of electrical control systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
