Warehouse Operations Coordinator

Gardewine is a Manitoba-based company with terminals across Canada, boasting a rich history dating back to the 1950s. Founded in the northern community of Flin Flon, we have grown significantly by diversifying within the transportation industry. Our dedicated people are the source of our success, and their safety and health always come first. We are seeking a skilled Dockworker in our Thunder Bay office.
This position reports to the Dock Lead Hand and involves completing various warehouse tasks at our Winnipeg terminal. Primary responsibilities include unloading trailers and handling associated paperwork for freight. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, be able to work efficiently, and maintain a safe work environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Inspecting freight for damages, shortages, or overages
- Stripping trailers and placing freight in designated areas
- Unloading freight according to established procedures
- Minimizing claims by adhering to standards and optimizing unloading processes
- Monitoring and completing bills of lading and shipping documents
- Maintaining an organized and clean dock area
- Practicing and promoting a safe work environment
- Disposing of waste properly to prevent hazards and keep the dock clean
- Performing other duties as necessary to meet dock goals and objectives
Requirements
We require a High School diploma with at least two years' experience working in a fast-paced logistics environment, specifically with freight. Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills are essential. Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision while being a team player is also required.
Physical Demands
The physical demands of this role are above average. You must be able to lift up to 50lbs from shoulder to floor, bend, twist, stand, and walk throughout the day. A good sense of balance, hand coordination, and foot coordination is necessary for assessing weights and judging distances and heights. Ability to work in varying temperatures and operate small equipment such as power jacks, forklifts, and hand dollies is also required. Personal protective equipment must be worn at all times.
Estimated Salary: $55,000 - $65,000 per year based on location and experience.
