Psychologist for Chronic Disease Management

At Alberta Health Services, we are seeking a skilled Psychologist to join our inter-professional chronic disease management team. As a Counselling Psychologist, you will be working closely with healthcare professionals to provide psychological testing and assessment procedures to clients living with chronic conditions such as obesity and diabetes.
Role OverviewThe successful candidate will be responsible for applying evidence-based knowledge and critical analysis of client's psychological needs to provide optimal support for obese clients. This will involve conducting psychological assessments and providing counselling services in collaboration with primary care physicians and specialists.
Key Responsibilities- Conducting psychological testing and other assessment procedures to identify client needs and develop effective treatment plans
- Providing individual and group counselling sessions to support clients in managing their chronic conditions
- Collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care and coordination of services
- Maintaining accurate records and monitoring client outcomes to inform practice and quality improvement initiatives
To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will possess:
- A Doctoral degree in Psychology (PhD or PsyD) from an accredited institution
- Licensure or certification to practice as a psychologist in the province of Alberta
- Experience working with clients with chronic conditions, particularly obesity and diabetes
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment
- Ability to apply evidence-based knowledge and critical thinking to inform practice and improve client outcomes
We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including:
- A base salary range of $93,000 - $120,000 per year
- An annual Remote Retention Allowance of up to $3,000
