BDO Canada LLP, a leading accounting and consulting firm, is seeking an experienced Senior Corporate Lawyer to join its Office of the General Counsel. Based in Toronto, this dynamic role offers a unique opportunity for a talented attorney to drive growth, innovation, and excellence across various sectors.

About the Opportunity

  • This Senior Corporate Lawyer position plays a crucial role in providing expert legal advice on commercial contracts, transactions, and other business matters to BDO's service lines (assurance, BSO, tax, and advisory) across Canada.
  • The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership and business stakeholders to develop and implement strategies that enhance business performance, mitigate risks, and leverage opportunities.
  • Key responsibilities include reviewing, negotiating, drafting, and advising on a wide range of commercial contracts and transaction documents, such as engagement letters, non-disclosure agreements, master services agreements, statements of work, and requests for proposals.
  • Collaborate with business teams to assess legal and business risks, provide guidance on contractual terms, and identify areas for process improvements.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of industry trends, regulatory requirements, and best practices in corporate law.

Requirements

  • A member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario with superior academic credentials.
  • 2-4 years of experience gained from a leading law firm or in-house legal department in corporate and commercial law.
  • Advanced communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to draft and negotiate complex agreements at an advanced level in French (a strong asset).
  • Excellent time management, prioritization, and organizational skills to effectively manage high-volume files and projects with competing deadlines.
  • Persuasive communication skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels, both in the legal and business communities.
  • An interest in leasing will be considered an asset.

Our Approach

Estimated Salary Range: $150,000 - $200,000 per year
