At The Second City, we're committed to delivering exceptional entertainment experiences through our world-class improv-based sketch comedy. To support this mission, we're seeking a highly skilled Facilities Supervisor to oversee the cleanliness, upkeep, and functionality of our theater facilities.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our equipment and systems, including lighting, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems. This multifaceted role involves conducting regular inspections, performing preventive maintenance tasks, and troubleshooting equipment malfunctions.

We're looking for a proactive, detail-oriented individual who can collaborate effectively with diverse teams to create a seamless performance environment. If you have a fundamental understanding of theater equipment and systems, along with a background in maintenance and repair, we'd love to hear from you.

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Conduct regular inspections of theater facilities and equipment to assess functionality and safety.
    • Schedule and perform preventive maintenance tasks on HVAC systems, plumbing, lighting, and electrical equipment to minimize downtime.
    • Document maintenance activities, including repairs performed, parts used, and any follow-up actions needed.
    • Carry out routine maintenance activities, including replacing light bulbs and painting walls and fixtures.
    • Ensure all equipment is operating within safe parameters and recommend upgrades or replacements as necessary.
    • Troubleshoot and repair equipment malfunctions, including technical troubleshooting of audio-visual and lighting systems.
    • Work closely with stage managers, technical directors, and production crews to set up and dismantle equipment and stage sets for performances.
    • Liaise with the Audience Operations Manager for daily tasks, projects, and repairs to ensure smooth operations.
    • Maintain an organized inventory of spare parts, tools, and maintenance supplies, ensuring necessary items are available for repairs and installations.
    • Ensure all maintenance and repair work is performed in accordance with industry safety standards and regulations.
    • Conduct safety inspections and maintain documentation related to compliance with health and safety protocols.
    • Develop and maintain emergency procedures related to facility operations and protocols.
