Position Overview

The Pet Nutrition Research Specialist will spearhead various concurrent projects at Champion Petfoods, focusing on practical diet applications and core nutritional science. This role involves collaboration with global research partners to conduct advanced nutritional studies that align with our goals of enhancing pet health. The specialist will design research diets and collaborate with the product development team to bring these diets to fruition. Additionally, the role includes identifying opportunities to innovate and differentiate Champion Petfoods' formulations, in line with our food philosophy and core values.

The position is primarily based at our Research and Innovation Centre, with occasional responsibilities at our other facilities. A hybrid work schedule will be implemented, allowing for a blend of remote and in-office work.

Daily Responsibilities:

Lead feeding trial initiatives, including the formulation of experimental diets, coordination with product development for diet creation, and communication with research partners. Present findings from feeding research trials to product development, innovation, marketing teams, and executive leadership. Share research outcomes with sales teams, customer service, and distribution partners. Support the Veterinary Engagement team by participating in veterinary conferences and engaging with professionals in exhibition settings. Contribute to innovative brainstorming sessions and troubleshooting efforts for future growth in key consumer areas. Stay informed on scientific advancements in dog and cat nutrition through ongoing education and literature reviews. Conduct statistical analysis and interpretation of trial data while collaborating with the research team to foster innovation and new ideas.

Qualifications:

PhD in Animal Nutrition, Animal Science, or a related field preferred. Strong foundation in nutrition with experience in companion animals considered an asset. Minimum of 3 years of robust research experience, including study design, execution, collaboration, data analysis, and dissemination. Proficient in scientific writing and communication. Excellent written and presentation skills are advantageous. Ability to work independently while also being an effective team collaborator.
