Job Summary

">

A Medical Laboratory Technologist I, Core Lab role is available. This position involves performing lab services for diagnostic purposes that support clinical care, as well as academic and research needs.

About the Role

">

In this core lab role, you will perform analytical analysis and effectively communicate with other departments to ensure effective, efficient, and high-quality care.

">

You will also manage laboratory services prioritizing patient and family needs, working within your scope of certified technical knowledge and experience.

">

This role requires leadership, sound professional judgment, initiative, and maintaining patient confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

">
  • Perform tests (both manual and automated) in clinical areas such as Chemistry, Specialized Chemistry, Hematology, and/or Transfusion Medicine.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work in stressful situations with little or no supervision.
  • Making decisions exercising critical thinking skills.
  • Frequently interact with computerized information systems.
  • Collect patient samples as needed.

Requirements

">
  • Graduate from an approved program in Medical Laboratory Technology.
  • Registered with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science required.
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure with the Nova Scotia College of Medical Laboratory Technologists required.
  • A sound knowledge of minimum of at least six functions listed above required.
  • Well-developed organizational and communication skills required.
  • The ability to work in a team environment and independently.
  • Candidates must demonstrate commitment to on-going training or professional development.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset; French preferred.
