Job Title: Senior Manager, Strategic Initiatives

Scotiabank is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager, Strategic Initiatives to join our ScotiaMcLeod team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for identifying, developing, and leading the implementation of high-impact projects and strategies that support ScotiaMcLeod's long-term vision and goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development and execution of strategic initiatives for ScotiaMcLeod, requiring direct interaction with key stakeholders, including business partners across Scotia Wealth Management.
  • Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and internal assessments to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
  • Oversee assigned projects, including scope, budget, risk, resources, plan, and internal/external communications, ensuring timely and budget-friendly completion.
  • Support the ScotiaMcLeod leadership team in planning, implementing, and monitoring internal, cross-functional programs and procedures.
  • Proactively identify initiatives and processes contributing to efficient and effective business operations.
  • Lead frequent meetings with stakeholders to ensure projects and initiatives remain on track, maintaining an active list of initiatives, responsible stakeholders, and timelines.
  • Develop and implement change management activities related to assigned projects and initiatives.
  • Lead and engage in identifying improvement opportunities and process efficiencies to create overall effectiveness, consulting with key partners and stakeholders.
  • Understand how Scotiabank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Create an environment where the team pursues effective and efficient operations, in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles.
  • Build a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates the team, fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviors.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA preferred.
  • Project Management (PMP) and/or Lean Six Sigma certification is an asset.
  • 5+ years of experience in corporate strategy, consulting, focused on wealth management, banking, or financial services industry, is an asset.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and conceptual problem-solving skills combined with outstanding business acumen and attention to detail.
  • Strong organization and project management skills, with the ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, challenging, and dynamic environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for interacting with stakeholders with varying cross-cultural and language differences.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with other teams and senior executives.
  • Advanced knowledge in financial analysis.
  • Advanced leadership skills in Building Strategic Relationships and Customer Focus.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
