Salary

The estimated annual salary for this position is $35,817.70, which includes 4% vacation pay. The salary is based on a five-step scale with annual increases, and the rate of pay is as follows:

  • 50% Position: $24.62/hour (based on 3.5 hours/day)
  • 80% Position: $29.91/hour (based on 6.1 hours/day)
  • 100% Position: $33.19/hour (based on 7.5 hours/day)
Job Description

As an Educational Program Assistant, your primary responsibility will be to provide support to students with special needs in a classroom setting. You will work closely with teachers, therapists, and other educational professionals to develop and implement individualized plans that cater to each student's unique needs.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you must have a valid First Aid/CPR certification, light lifting ability (up to 20 pounds), medium lifting ability (up to 50 pounds), and non-violent crisis intervention certification. You should also be trained or willing to be trained in toileting, personal care, use of assistive technology, tube feeding, physiotherapy follow-up, seizure management, and behaviour management support.

In addition, we prefer candidates with experience working with Down's syndrome and autism, as well as a related diploma or certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution.
