Job Title: Clinical Supervisor - Nursing Programs

The Clinical Supervisor - Nursing Programs is a key role at Seneca, responsible for providing students with appropriate learning experiences in a clinical setting. This position requires the use of critical thinking skills and accurate judgment within an environment that is physically and intellectually demanding.

Responsibilities:
  • Provides students with appropriate learning experiences in a clinical setting.
  • Selects clients for student care, ensuring a safe and effective learning environment.
  • Reviews and clarifies the nursing practice course expectations, ensuring students meet the course learning outcomes.
  • Maintains effective relationships with healthcare teams, students, clients, and their families.
  • Supervises and monitors ongoing client care provided by students, utilizing established guidelines and policies.
  • Intervenes when necessary to ensure student safety and well-being.
  • Adapts clinical assignments and organizational plans to accommodate unexpected events.
  • Collaborates with faculty and other clinical supervisors to determine and implement an effective learning environment.
  • Assesses students' performance, adhering to learning outcome criteria and using established evaluation tools.
  • Makes accurate assessments and judgments regarding students' ability to perform the nursing process.
  • Records observations and shares written notes with students, providing verbal clarification as needed.
  • Seeks input from clinical agency nursing staff when necessary.
  • Determines if students' clinical performance meets course learning outcomes, in consultation with the clinical coordinator/professor.
Qualifications:
  • A completed four-year degree in Nursing or a Two-year diploma in Nursing is required.
  • Must be a registered nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario and hold a Certificate of Completion.
  • Must have current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.
  • Minimum two years of recent practical experience in Nursing with a minimum of two years of experience in an acute care setting.

This role requires excellent time management, organizational, and multi-tasking skills, as well as the ability to work well under pressure. A valid G-class Ontario driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle are required for travel. A skills assessment test will be administered during the recruitment process. A combination of relevant experience and education may be considered.
