The project includes the construction of a six-kilometer tunnel and associated tunnelling works from Exhibition to Don Yard portal (west of the Don River), as well as four new underground stations and two underground stations integrated with existing TTC subway stations.

The project has many benefits, including improved quality of life for commuters by reducing daily travel time, reduced crowding on the existing Line 1 (Yonge-University) subway, and up to 57,000 more jobs accessible by transit (in 45 minutes or less) for Toronto residents.

About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic leader with a passion for managing complex subcontracts to join our team as a Commercial & Contractual Subcontract Lead. In this role, you will oversee a portfolio of approximately 250 individual subcontracts valued at around $1 billion Canadian dollars. You will lead a team of field subcontract administrators and coordinators, working closely with senior project management, engineering management, and design professionals to ensure project success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and manage comprehensive subcontract and material contract administration procedures from inception to completion.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all subcontract and material contract administration matters.
  • Ensure strict compliance with contract provisions, assisting contract handlers with drafting and managing contract correspondence.
  • Oversee the preparation and management of change orders, ensuring accurate identification of claims and effective contract administration.
  • Manage all aspects of subcontract payment provisions, including the review and approval of payments.
  • Resolve subcontractor grievances and claims promptly and fairly, maintaining positive relationships and minimizing project disruptions.
  • Review subcontractor claims and contracts meticulously to ensure they conform to project policies and standards.
  • Administer and maintain subcontract management systems, ensuring data integrity and accessibility for all project team members.
