Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join our team at AltaGas. As a Data Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and maintaining our enterprise data platform, leveraging cutting-edge technologies to drive business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy data pipelines and architectures to extract and transform disparate data into actionable insights.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine requirements, iterate, and finalize design, deliver working proofs of concept, and develop/deploy finalized data solutions.
  • Work directly with business stakeholders to refine requirements, iterate, and finalize design, deliver working proofs of concept, and develop/deploy finalized data solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, commerce, mathematics, or statistics preferred.
  • 7+ years in software and/or data engineering and the use of enterprise data platform tools within a team setting required.
  • 5+ years in Microsoft data engineering tools such as Azure Data Factory / Fabric Pipelines, Power Query / Fabric Dataflows, Synapse / Fabric Notebooks, and Logic Apps / Power Automate Flows (1+ year of experience in Microsoft Fabric specifically) required.
  • Strong database knowledge including SQL Databases, Azure Data Explorer/KQL Databases, Delta Lakes, Fabric lakehouses/warehouses, Power BI, and medallion architecture.
  • Strong ETL skillsets, including coding proficiency in Power Query M language, Python, SQL, and KQL.
  • Strong DevOps/Git background.
  • Strong understanding of near real-time data replication and different integration patterns (pub/sub, point-to-point, etc.).
  • Experience with SAP HANA would be an asset.
  • Experience in multi-faceted Digital roles within Energy/Utilities business would be an asset.
