Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Superintendent to lead our capital project planning, budgeting, and execution for both Deer Lake Power and Paper Mill divisions. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and overseeing facility infrastructure management.

Key Responsibilities

• Capital Project Planning and Execution
  • Develop and implement annual capital plans and budgets to recommend to senior management.
  • Lead capital process management from request for appropriation to planning to execution and cost control.
• Facilities Management
  • Provide prompt response and priority setting of engineering services priorities as requested by mill personnel.
  • Maintain infrastructure as required, including but not limited to structural, ventilation, and fire systems.
• Team Leadership
  • Manage a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and oversee facility infrastructure management.
• Insurance and Compliance
  • Manage insurance requirements and fire suppression requirements.
• Process Improvement
  • Champion the execution and documentation of the Management of Change (MOC) process as required.
• Performance Metrics
  • Support measurable Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) for the Department.

Requirements

• A degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or equivalent industrial experience.
• Minimum of 10 years experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably pulp and paper.
• Strong project management background, PMP designation would be considered a strong asset.
• Pragmatic and cost-efficient decision making skills.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate team members.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills, strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
• Proficient use of computers (Microsoft Suite, Microsoft Project, CMMS).
