Softmax Data Inc., a boutique consultancy based in Vancouver's downtown core, is seeking a skilled Software Developer to join our team. We specialize in developing proprietary software for machine learning, data pipeline, and data analytics, working with industry leaders such as Clio, MoxiWorks, and DomainTools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop critical software features, ensuring high-quality architecture and technical expertise.
  • Drive best practices and development principles, focusing on key metrics and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering Manager to deliver product features, manage timelines, and support the team in achieving Sprint goals.
  • Contribute to reducing the Support backlog by identifying and eliminating the root causes of high-impact issues.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, while also enjoying collaboration with others.
  • Mentor junior engineers/developers and contribute to their growth.
Requirements
  • Must possess the legal status to work in Canada.
  • Must be located in the Vancouver area or willing to relocate within the next 2 months.
  • A minimum of 5 years of development experience with Ruby on Rails.
  • At least 5 years of frontend development experience with Angular, React, or similar frameworks.
  • Recent experience with tools such as Redis, Sidekiq, Postgres, EKS, Buildkite, and/or other AWS services.
  • A solid understanding of API design, including network communication between services.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage and simplify complex systems and requirements.
  • Creative and innovative, with a passion for continuous improvement.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and the ability to lead in feature scoping, architecture, and delivery.
