At Prairie Mountain Health, we are seeking a compassionate and skilled Home Care Attendant to provide direct client care and environmental support within established standards of care, policies, and procedures.
Job SummaryThe Home Care Attendant plays a vital role in assisting clients maintain their independence, dignity, and lifestyle while receiving the necessary care and support in the comfort of their own homes. This position requires a high level of empathy, patience, and attention to detail to ensure the best possible outcomes for our clients.
Responsibilities- Demonstrate respect for client independence, dignity, and lifestyle at all times
- Support clients' independence in activities of daily living, as assessed by the Case Coordinator
- Demonstrate knowledge of standards for safety and sanitation, including guidelines for hand washing, and report concerns to the Supervisor
- With additional education and training, may be assigned additional tasks as required
- Effectively utilize electronic programs and perform communication functions, such as mail, email, photocopying, faxing, and telephone, in accordance with the Personal Health Information Act (PHIA) and Privacy Act
- Assist with meal preparation in accordance with the Canada Food Guide or the client-specific diet
- Organize work according to client needs and service requests
- Report any changes in client status or home environment to the Supervisor and/or Case Coordinator
- Participate in staff meetings, case conferences, and in-service programs, communicating with coworkers to achieve client-centered goals
- Health Care Aide Certificate from a recognized Health Care Aide program
- Other combinations of suitable education and experience may be considered
- Province of Manitoba Class 5 Driver's License, or equivalent from the province of residence, and access to a personal vehicle to provide service within Prairie Mountain Health
- Proficiency with Microsoft programs, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint, as well as internet applications and other information technology
- Demonstrated organizational skills, ability to work independently, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Demonstrated flexibility to facilitate changes in techniques and procedures in a changing environment
- Demonstrated knowledge and competence of skills and concepts related to the position
- Demonstrated communication skills and ability to respect and promote confidentiality
- Ability to perform duties of the position on a regular basis and respect and promote a culturally diverse population
We offer a competitive salary range of $30-$40 per hour, depending on experience, plus benefits and opportunities for professional growth and development.
