Job Title: Mobile Street Outreach Worker

The Hamilton Regional Indian Centre is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the urban Aboriginal population of the Greater Hamilton area. We are seeking a highly motivated and culturally sensitive individual to join our team as a Mobile Street Outreach Worker.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing resources and supports to community members experiencing homelessness. This will involve working with a mobile team to make referrals, provide crisis intervention, and advocate for individuals in need. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a valid G driver's license, and a minimum of 2 years' experience in outreach, advocacy, or support in a community organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide resources and supports to community members experiencing homelessness
  • Work with a mobile team to make referrals, provide crisis intervention, and advocate for individuals in need
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge
Requirements:
  • Two (2) year post-secondary education in Social Service Work and/or Indigenous Studies or a combination of equivalent and relevant education
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in outreach, advocacy, or support in a community organization and/or experience with Indigenous homeless population
  • Knowledge of homelessness issues and Indigenous and non-Indigenous community services and supports
  • Ability to maintain a daily schedule of program requirements and handle high levels of stress
