About the Role:We're seeking a skilled Laboratory Assistant to join our team in the North York, Etobicoke, and Woodbridge area. As a Laboratory Assistant, you will be responsible for processing blood samples and other laboratory specimens, entering requisitions and results accurately, and providing exceptional customer service to create a positive patient experience.
Key Responsibilities:- Process blood samples and other laboratory specimens in a timely and accurate manner
- Enter requisitions and results accurately, ensuring high-quality data
- Provide customer service to patients, displaying empathy, care, and kindness in stressful situations
- Sort and steer specimens, perform ECGs, Holter Hookups, paternity, urine, drug, and breath alcohol collections
- Ensure specimens and supporting documentation are completed as required, following established protocols
- Contribute to meeting departmental/corporate quality metrics, regulatory compliance, and quality indicators
- Secondary School diploma and a Laboratory Assistant training program or a Medical Lab Assistance course with specialized training in phlebotomy
- Customer-focused with a genuine care for patients' health
- Skilled in phlebotomy, with the ability to manage anxious patients through the sample obtaining process
- Prioritize and self-manage within a deadline-oriented environment
- Extremely detail-oriented
- Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, at a level that enables clear communication with patients
