At Magna, we're looking for a skilled Millwright to join our team in Penetanguishene. This is a full-time permanent position with a competitive salary of $65,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for assembling, installing, maintaining, and servicing mechanical equipment to support production needs. They will work closely with engineering departments on design, fabrication, installation, and troubleshooting of equipment and facilities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Receiving instructions relative to priority needs and requirements;
  • Working with all engineering departments on design, fabrication, installation, and try-out of new and modified equipment;
  • Troubleshooting equipment and facility concerns;
  • Effecting repairs in a timely and efficient manner as required;
  • Evaluating jobs to be done in relation to tools required and materials needed;
  • Estimating the time required for each job;
  • Obtaining necessary equipment, tools, and parts required to do the job;
  • Communicating fabricated part requirements to engineering and toolroom through basic sketches;
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints for equipment and parts;
  • Carrying out preventative maintenance work as required by the company's preventative maintenance program;
  • Operating fork lift and high lift as required;
  • Troubleshooting PLC and control program issues and completing basic program adjustments;

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Certified Millwright with the appropriate papers;
  • Pre-employment training including general repairs to equipment involving knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems;
  • Knowledge of welding principles is an asset;
  • Ability to read detailed machine blueprints;
  • Basic knowledge of PLC and control programming languages;
  • Attention to detail as the position involves work on equipment which is not easily replaced;
  • Ability to work under general direction with independently set objectives;
