Career Opportunity: Financial Accountant - Accounts Payable Specialist

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Accountant - Accounts Payable Specialist to join our Accounting/Finance department. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing the AP cycle, including processing PO / non-PO invoices, ensuring timely payment for all vendors, and maintaining the monthly AP accrual.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Invoicing and Payment Processing: Process 300-400 invoices per week, verify approval on all invoices and cheque requests, and ensure timely payment for all vendors.
  • Vendor Management: Work with our procurement team to resolve quantity/pricing discrepancies between invoices and PO's, work with vendors and internal shipping/receivers to receive any missing paperwork, and maintain a liaison relationship with vendors to reconcile any billing discrepancies.
  • Accounts Payable Maintenance: Maintain account payable physical files, prepare month-end closing reconciliations, and perform quarterly cleanup of Goods Received Not Invoiced.
  • Reconciliation and Reporting: Reconcile supplier statements to ensure all invoices are captured in the period, prepare weekly cash flow reports, and prepare GST/HST return as needed.
  • ERP Implementation: Prepare for our ERP (MSD 365) implementation through training, willingness to learn, and motivation to record AP correctly in a new system.

Key Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of accounting work experience, including internships or co-ops.
  • Skillset: Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, analytical mind, strong conceptual and problem-solving skills, critical thinking, ability to multi-task and prioritize work effectively, and excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Professional Certifications: Aspiring CPA an asset.

Salary and Benefits:

The estimated salary for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience. We also offer a comprehensive group benefit plan, including medical, dental, life insurance coverage, and generous HCSA.
