The Opportunity:

The Maple Leaf Foods team is seeking an experienced Automation Specialist to join our Lagimodiere facility. As a key member of our automation team, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, servicing, and maintaining automated industrial controls and equipment across the facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Effectively troubleshoot HMI, PLC, Remote IO, VFD, electronic control-related, and communication network issues within the facility.
  • Interpret and read electrical/control diagrams, with strong expertise in field devices such as pressure, temperature, and flow sensors.
  • Maintain the FactoryTalk Asset Centre repository for synchronized backups and perform routine manual backups of assets that are not included in Asset Centre.
  • Perform routine checks of automation Level 2 network assets to ensure devices remain accessible on the network.
  • Liaise with corporate Information Solutions to resolve issues with plant MES systems, production floor systems, and local plant network.
  • Provide on-site support for all plant process control and monitoring of automation systems.
  • Ability to write and interpret PLC programs in LAD, FBD, and STL.
  • Carrying out approved program modifications to PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems to improve machine efficiency and reliability.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on automation equipment, including plant CCTV systems, to ensure continuous optimal performance.
  • Provide technical support and training to plant maintenance team as required.
  • Ensure proper documentation of changes and updates made to the plant automation systems.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of a diploma in Industrial Automation, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Control Engineering, or equivalent education.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years hands-on automation experience.
  • Experience working with Allen Bradley PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems is required.
  • Experience working with DeltaV systems, Delta Controls, B&R PLCs, Beckhoff PLCs is considered a plus.
