Opportunity Overview

Aecon, a market leader in infrastructure development, seeks a seasoned Design Manager to lead the design management plan for a mega infrastructure project in the GTA. The successful candidate will coordinate all designs produced by the design team to ensure compliance with project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and execute Safe by Design Principles across all design activities
  • Manage the delivery of project-related design activities to meet schedule and budget requirements for a highly complex project
  • Develop and maintain design management plans, requirements traceability matrices, and interface control documents
  • Coordinate technical interfaces, review technical documentation, and participate in change control processes
  • Ensure compliance with contractual requirements at all stages, including temporary works and staging
  • Manage and facilitate interfaces between disciplines and temporary works designers
  • Evaluate design changes for impacts on schedule, costs, requirements, and interfaces
  • Interface with the project team to determine schedules, monitor design progress, and coordinate handovers
  • Carry out engineering administration following company policies and procedures

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • P. Eng is an asset
  • 10+ years of heavy civil construction bridge project experience
  • Previous design management and integration experience on major infrastructure projects
  • Understanding of construction means and methods, including staging and temporary works
  • Potential to perform in a lead capacity, manage engineering staff, and third-party design subcontracts
