Job Title: Business Intelligence Analyst

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Business Intelligence Analyst to join our team at Western Coast Insurance Services. As a Business Intelligence Analyst, you will play a critical role in helping us make data-driven decisions to drive business growth and improve customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the complete Business Intelligence Lifecycle, including gathering business requirements, performing data discovery, identifying relationships within data, and creating end-user reports.
  • Apply technical Business Intelligence skills to data mining and data verification in multiple source systems.
  • Analyze complex data to determine trends and meaning, and convert data into usable information for the business.
  • Define, design, develop, and document operational KPIs to support and monitor overall strategic goals.
  • Work with IBM Cognos Analytics, SQL Server Management Studio, PowerBI, and Excel to identify, analyze, and interpret areas performing outside of expected results.
  • Create data visualizations in all available Business Intelligence tools to clearly communicate results.
  • Apply analytical skills, business acumen, and storytelling abilities to interpreting results and presenting problem solutions to Leadership.
  • Discover new insights through experimentation.

Requirements

  • Insurance industry experience is an asset but not required.
  • 3-5 years related experience as a BI Analyst.
  • Knowledge of analytics methodologies and techniques.
  • Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
  • Experience working with business intelligence tools such as IBM Cognos Analytics and Power BI.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, and ability to interface with the Business and IT organizations.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field an asset.
