Healthcare Infection Prevention Specialist

About the Role
The Infection Prevention and Control Professional will play a key role in promoting patient safety and preventing hospital-acquired infections at Alberta Health Services.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of system-wide improvements in infection prevention.
- Provide expert advice on infection prevention and control practices to healthcare teams.
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures related to infection prevention and control.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to identify and mitigate infection risks.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest infection prevention and control research and best practices.
Requirements
- Baccalaureate degree in Nursing, Microbiology, Epidemiology, or Public Health.
- Minimum of three years' experience in a clinical healthcare setting, or experience and proficiency in two of the following: patient care practice, microbiology and infectious diseases, or epidemiology and biostatistics.
- Active or eligible registration with the applicable regulatory college.
- Licensure with a governing body, such as CARNA, or an advanced degree in a health-related field.
