Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Winter Maintenance Operator to join our team. As a Winter Maintenance Operator, you will be responsible for performing road maintenance activities on provincial highways, responding to emergency situations, and assisting in implementing an emergency plan.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform road maintenance activities on provincial highways, including snow and ice control, salting, and sanding.
  • Respond to emergency situations, such as spills and accidents, during inclement weather.
  • Assist in implementing an emergency plan, providing traffic control at accident scenes as per the contract requirements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including fuel reports, safety reports, and hours of service.
  • Maintain and clean equipment, conducting routine maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Familiarize yourself with snow and ice control decisions during winter and initiate equipment and operator call outs.
  • Inspect patrols and create deficient lists for the Foreperson.
  • Respond to public complaints and operate a variety of equipment.

Requirements

  • DZ license
  • Experience in snow and ice control along with knowledge of OTM Book 7
  • Knowledge of highway maintenance
  • Willingness to work in extreme weather conditions
  • Ability to work assigned shifts, and extended hours (evenings, weekends, nights, and holidays) as winter events require
